AFRICA/NIGERIA - Appointment of the Rector of the Major Seminary "Holy Apostles Peter and Paul" in Ibadan

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - Cardinal Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on 20 December 2012 appointed rev. Francis O. Adesina, of the clergy of the Diocese of Osogbo as Rector of the interdiocesan Major Seminary dedicated to "the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul" in the Archdiocese of Ibadan.
The new Rector is 48 years old and has been a priest for 23. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biblical Theology at the Pontifical Urbaniana University. He was assistant pastor and pastor in several parishes; chaplain of the charismatic movement; pastoral secretary of the Senate of the Dioceses of Oyo and Osogbo; since 2000 he has been a member of the Osogbo Diocesan Counsellors; in the years 2001 to 2005 and then since 2009 he has been a formator and professor of biblical Theology at the Seminary "Holy Apostles Peter and Paul".
