Tai Yuan (Agenzia Fides) – To embody the spirit of the Second Vatican Council in one’s life and transform oneself in the face of Christ to witness faith: this is the meaning of the exhortation that His Exc. Mgr. Paul Meng Ning You, Bishop coadjutor of the Diocese of Taiyuan (in Shanxi), addressed to the faithful of the diocese who took part in the Seminar on the documents of the II Vatican Council. The meeting took place on July 13, with the participation of over a thousand faithful and of all diocesan priests, as part of the initiatives promoted by the diocese for the Year of Faith. Three priests explained the meaning of the Constitutions Lumen Gentium and Gaudium et Spes, and the Unitatis Redintegratio Decree that contain teachings related to the life of the local faithful, on the mystery of the Church and ecumenism. In fact, the area has seen a substantial increase in religious groups and movements, often real sects. According to Mgr. Meng, "the Council, and these documents have renewed the Church, bringing new energy to the Church. The formation of the faithful on these important documents continues to renew us still today, and it is also necessary and urgent for our evangelization". Through the study, the faithful "have clarified the relationship between the faithful and the Church, they have meditated and reflected together thanks to the work of the Holy Spirit. With this renewal, change and growth, we collect the abundant fruits of faith". (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 19/07/2013)
