EUROPE/SPAIN - International Rosary Congress: an opportunity to meditate on the mystery of Christ through the eyes of Most Holy Mary

Seville (Fides Service) - An international Rosary Congress organised by the Mount Sion Confraternity in collaboration with the Dominican Province of Andalusia will be held from 28 to 30 October in Seville (Spain) on the occasion of the crowning of a statue of Our Lady of the Rosary. Dominican father Herminio de Paz Castaño, director of the Congress told Fides that the aim of the event, "to examine the Rosary from various points of view, historical, biblical, theological and liturgical, artistic and popular religious piety.” He added: “We are expecting a good number of people to attend. People are coming from Africa, Mexico, Argentina, Francia, Holland, Italia, Portugal e and all voer Spain". In a message for the occasion Cardinal Carlos Amigo Vallejo archbishop of Seville said the Congress will be “an opportunity to meditate on the mystery of Christ through the eyes of Most Holy Mary. With the Rosary Christians learn from Mary how to contemplate the beauty of the face of Christ and experience the depth of his love."
The Congress will be held at the Major Seminary in Seville. Cardinal Carlos Amigo Vallejo will give the first conference followed by talks from specialists in various disciplines belonging to different religious orders and professors from Spanish universities on themes such as: "The Rosary in the history of the Catholic Church", "Biblical Roots of the Rosary", "Devotion to the Rosary and the Order of Preachers", "The Rosary and the Liturgy", "The Rosary and Art".
