Friday, 26 April 2013

Tapachula (Agenzia Fides) - In addition to being malnourished and carry out heavy and dangerous work, street children are also victims of diseases such as tuberculosis, salmonella, HIV/AIDS, influenza. About 60% of these are foreign and come mainly from Honduras and Guatemala. In a statement by the organization Ejército de Salvacion also shows that the young often consume alcohol or sniff glue to stop the hunger, and to commit theft or other crimes. Many of them drop out of school while others try to continue attending. Currently the Ejército de Salvacion does not have adequate space to accommodate and assist these children and so they distribute food to those who live and work on the streets. The center supports an average of 60 children and adolescents who go there to eat or seek shelter for the night. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 26/04/2013)
