Vatican City (Fides Service) - On Sunday 24 October on behalf of Pope John Paul II Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, will preside World Mission Day mass at the Altar over the Tomb of St Peter, at 10am in St Peter’s Basilica. Catholics from Africa and Latin America will carry the gifts of bread and wine in procession to the altar. After the consecration, a group of Indian Catholic liturgical dancers with incense and flowers will honour the presence of Christ in the Eucharist in the consecrated bread and wine. The celebration will be animated with hymns sung in churches in mission territories in various languages.
On Saturday 23 October in preparation for World Mission Day the Cardinal will preside a prayer vigil with the recitation of the missionary Rosary with hymns from different countries starting at 5pm in the Santo Spirito in Sassia church (Borgo Santo Spirito).
