AMERICA/ARGENTINA - A delegation of Bishops meets the President to express the Church’s concern and for the Christmas wishes

Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - A delegation of Bishops from Argentina, led by His Exc. Mgr. José María Arancedo, President of the Episcopal Conference, will visit the President of the Republic, Cristina Fernandez, a few days after the publication of the document in which the Bishops had warned of the risk of divisions in the country (see Fides 04/12/2012).
According to the note sent to Fides Agency, the meeting will take place at the Casa Rosada, around 7 p.m. In this context, the Presidency of the Episcopal Conference will give its best wishes for Christmas and will give President Fernandez the document that the Church addressed to the authorities, which, according to local press, wants to clarify even more its content by talking about it directly .
With this gesture, the Bishops want to show to the Head of State their concern about some of the issues which you require urgent action, such as the increase in drug trafficking and the network of complicity that supports it, the proliferation of crime and insecurity arising, the legislative proposal on abortion ...
