Thursday, 29 November 2012

Beijing (Agenzia Fides) - The celebration of the Solemnity of Christ the King in the Year of Faith was characterized in the continental Catholic communities by several initiatives: Solemn Mass, procession and adoration. As reported to Fides Agency by Faith of He Bei, the parish church dedicated to Christ the King of Wu Yue, in the diocese of Wen Zhou, opened the celebration with a solemn procession with thousands of participants, followed by the Eucharist celebrated in the church recently restored. In his homily the Bishop Coadjutor of the Diocese, Mgr. Shao, urged the faithful " to believe all the way to the truths of faith, and to fully live faith in the Year of Faith."
The Cathedral of the Diocese of Tian Jin celebrated the Solemnity of Christ the King giving the missionary mandate to 218 extraordinary ministers of communion at the end of a long and careful formation. According to the pastor, for nine years the parish organizes every year the formation course and the number of extraordinary ministers has grown from 34 in the first course up to 218 this year. For Lent and Easter extraordinary ministers gather for a spiritual retreat and intensive formation.
Within the celebrations of the Centenary of the founding of the diocese, extraordinary ministers attended the Eucharistic Congress and formation initiatives to improve the quality of their faith and to sanctify themselves in the service to the elderly, the sick and the weak. With this mandate received on the Solemnity of Christ the King "they want to be the best instruments of the Lord so that everyone can draw on the nourishment of life renewing faith in Christ in the Year of Faith."
