AMERICA/GUATEMALA - About 2,300 children and young people missing since 2010 continue to still be absent at the roll-call

Guatemala City (Agenzia Fides) - In Guatemala, at least 2,300 children and adolescents of the 4955 recorded as missing in the last 21 months, are still absent at the roll-call despite multiple reports. This is what emerges from the statistics of the organization, supplemented by various public institutions, committed to the protection of the law in 2010 Alerta AlbaKeneth created with the objective of recovering girls, children and teenagers kidnapped, abducted or disappeared before they are hurt or are taken away from their country of origin. Compared to 2011, the complaints have increased, there were 2,964 cases from January to September 2012 compared to the 1.991 in the twelve months of the previous year. Of the total of 4,955 disappeared in the last 21 months, almost half, 47.37% (2,347) is still nowhere to be found. Reports of 1.429 cases reported between January and September, the majority of which (1,001) correspond to girls continue. To the 1429 in 2012, one must add 918 in 2011, that are still unaccounted for. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 31/10/2012)
