Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - The path of the local Church of Taiwan towards World Mission Day intensifies. A "Prayer for the five continents" was promoted at the beginning of the missionary month of October by the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) in Taiwan, in collaboration with the Catholic University of Fu Ren to relaunch awareness and the missionary zeal of the laity. According to reports from the "Catholic Weekly" of the Archdiocese of Tai Pei, 52 students from 11 countries in the world participated in the Eucharist presided by His Exc. Mgr. John Hung, SVD, Archbishop of Tai Pei and President of the Episcopal Regional Conference of Taiwan. On this occasion they also shared the missionary situation of their country in order to emphasize the urgency of evangelization. During his homily, Mgr. Hung urged the Church to awaken in Taiwan, "its vocation, evangelization, is not the commitment of others, but of the same Taiwanese. We have to consider evangelization as the greatest joy of our lives." At the end of Mass, the present renewed their baptismal promises to "respond to the mission entrusted by Jesus Christ, leaving us to be supported by the Holy Spirit, bringing the love of Christ in every corner of the world, because there are still many people waiting for the good News of Christ, and Christ has sent us into the world to proclaim his Gospel."
