Jerusalem (Fides Service) - The Middle East Council of Churches has opened a new web site to facilitate contact and exchange of information in a spirit of ecumenism friendship and collaboration among all the Christians in the Middle East where life is very difficult today. The MECC is a council of the different Christian confessions in the area which have their head offices in Jerusalem, Cairo, Damascus, Limassol, Teheran, Beirut and Amman.
The web site, www.mec.churches.org in English and Arabic, supplies information about the ecumenical activity of the different communities in the Middle East, the history, nature, finalities and programmes of the Council. The Council is the result of a long ecumenical journey started in 1974 with the purpose of broadening its influence and bringing all believers in Christ in this region closer to full unity so they may offer authentic witness to Christ and his Gospel.
