Wen Zhou (Agenzia Fides) - "The new church is not a monument to show to the public, but is a reminder of evangelization and the life of faith, especially in view of the Year of Faith": is the appeal launched by His Exc. Mgr. Zhu Wei Fang, Bishop of the diocese of Wen Zhou in Zhe Jiang province, addressed to about 4,000 faithful who attended the inauguration of the new church dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary. According to information sent to Fides Agency, the solemn rite of consecration took place on October 6, on the eve of the feast of the Madonna of the Rosary. A large procession opened the ceremony, attracting the attention of many passersby. Mgr. Zhu said he hoped that "with the new church, everyone can become more and more devotees, to live the love of Christ and pass on the faith from generation to generation."
The church is in the historic center of the district of Ping Yang of the Diocese of Wen Zhou in the same place where, in 1918, the first church was built. Since the structure began to show signs of consistent failure, the Catholic community of Wen Zhou began the reconstruction in August 2009. After three years of work, this new building complex was inaugurated, which occupies more than 2000 square meters, composed of the church, the pastoral center and the house of the priest. The church in the Gothic style, with a 55 meter high tower, it can accommodate about 800 worshipers. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 09/10/2012)
