Abuja (Agenzia Fides) - Weekend marked by violence in various parts of Nigeria. At least 17 people were killed in the village of Doko Kuka, in the State of Yobo. According to reports from the website of the newspaper "Nigerian Tribune", the night of 6 October, a group of armed men attacked the village, entering the houses and firing on civilians. Several villagers sought refuge in the forest. The military of the Joint Task Force (JTF) intervened engaging in a firefight which lasted 45 minutes, after which the terrorists (who are supposed to be members of Boko Haram) fled.
The village of Doko Kuka is inhabited by Muslims and is 70 km from Damaturu, the capital of the State of Yobo, where on Sunday, October 7 the army launched a major operation during which 30 members of Boko Haram were killed, including Baa Kaka, described as the local commander of the terrorist sect. During the operation ten people were arrested and weapons, ammunition and three improvised explosive devices were taken away. In the night between the 5th and 6th of October, at least eight people were injured in Jalingo, capital of the state of Taraba (north-east of the Country), in a bomb attack attributed to Boko Haram.
