ASIA/PAKISTAN - The floods have caused 450 deaths and 4.9 million people are severely affected
Islamabad (Agenzia Fides) - At least 450 people have died and 4.9 million have been affected by the floods caused by the monsoon that this year has hit Pakistan. About 275,000 homes and business activities have been severely damaged, especially in the districts of the southern provinces of Sindh and Baluchistan. The monsoon ended in late September, but according to local sources, more rain is expected in winter. In 2010, the country suffered the worst floods in its history after a disastrous monsoon, along with a particularly abundant thaw that led to a flood of the river that flooded much of the country. On that occasion more than 20 million people were damaged and about 2,000 deaths were recorded, while that of last year, flooded about 75% of the fields in the south of the country.
