Beijing (Fides Service) - For a group of Chinese Catholics from the Immaculate Conception parish in Beijing last month’s pilgrimage to Lourdes will be a lasting memory. They had such a moving story to tell on their return that many others long to make the journey to this world famous Marian shrine in France and have applied for travel visas.
The group visited Rome before going on Lourdes. The pilgrimage was brief, only a week, but intense: “We never thought the authorities would issue a travel permit for a pilgrimage. But we prayed to Our Lady of Lourdes and she heard us. Next time I will take my parents and in-laws who are devout Catholics. A pilgrimage to Lourdes is the dream of their life, no matter what it costs” said one local Catholic woman who added that many other people in China would like to make a pilgrimage to Lourdes.
