ASIA/TAIWAN - St. Therese’s novena has started at the Shrine in Taipei dedicated to the Patroness of Missions

Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - With the intention of prayer "so that the faithful proclaim the Gospel" yesterday, Sunday, September 23, the novena in preparation for the feast of St. Therese of the Child Jesus began, the shrine dedicated to the Patron Saint of Missions of the diocese of Hsin Chu. According to information sent to Fides Agency, the novena is guided in turn by Bishops and provincial Superiors of the missionary institutes on the island of Taiwan, such as Jesuits, Franciscans, Divine Word. His Exc. Mgr. Joseph Hung Shan Chuan, SVD, Archbishop of the archdiocese of Tai Pei, will preside at the solemn celebration on October 1, Feast of the Saint and beginning of the missionary Month. For each day of the novena a particular topic of prayer is assigned: today, 24 September, the theme of prayer is "for world peace and prosperity of the country." On September 25 "for the construction of the local Church"; on the 26th "for the sanctity of the family"; on the 27th "for the people who live in pain"; on the 28th "so that young people dedicate themselves to Christ with courage", on the 29th "for the elderly and the sick" and on the 30th "for workers."
