ASIA/CHINA - Priesthood and diaconate ordinations enrich the continental Catholic community and in Taiwan

Shi Jia Zhuang (Agenzia Fides) - The Diocese of Su Zhou and the Diocese of Ji Nan of the continent are celebrating the priestly and diaconal ordinations just celebrated, representing the harvest of the fruits of evangelization and vocation. According to information sent to Fides Agency, over two thousand faithful attended the priestly ordination of two deacons of the Diocese of Su Zhou, in the province of Jiang Su, celebrated on September 15, the day when the Church commemorates the Blessed Virgin Mary of Sorrows . The solemn ceremony was held in the Cathedral of the Diocese, dedicated to the Virgin of Sorrows. So the Diocese of Su Zhou currently has 21 priests, 15 women religious and 60 thousand faithful.
The Diocese of Ji Nan in the province of Shan Dong instead celebrated the ordination of a deacon on September 14, the feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, which is also the feast of the parish where the ordination took place. During the rite, the diocesan Bishop read with emotion in front of all those present, the message sent with the Holy Father Benedict XVI’s blessing to the parish.
In this period, the local Church in Taiwan has had the joy of welcoming a new priest, who also has a particular vocational story: we are talking about a CICM missionary (Missionaries of Scheut) of Congolese origin, Fr.
