Madrid (Agenzia Fides) - The IV International Meeting Against Child Labour, organized by Fundación Telefónica with the support of the International Labour Organization (ILO) begins in Madrid. The goal is to find solutions to this problem where more than 250 million child laborers and about 13 million and 215 thousand children worldwide do not go to school. The phenomenon is particularly serious in Southeast Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Also forms of hazardous child labor in agriculture, sexual exploitation of the young, innovative methods in the field of education and new forms of social mobilization are among the issues addressed in the Meeting. Together with an extensive network of NGO, Fundación Telefónica has given 285 000 children in 13 countries in sub-Saharan Africa the opportunity to attend school. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 03/09/2012)
