Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - Thanksgiving and sharing: this is the invitation by Monsignor J. B. Tseng Chien-Tsi, Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of Lien Hwa and President of the Commission for the Apostolate of the Aborigines, on the occasion of World Day of Prayer for indigenous peoples celebrated recently in Taiwan. In his usual letter for the Day, Mgr. Tseng, himself of indigenous origins and responsible of the apostolate to these groups, renewed his complete dedication to the mission also focusing on some concrete commitments: promoting catechism in the native language of the indigenous peoples for the inculturation of evangelization; the annual pastoral Congress is an opportunity to improve the faith and spirituality of the faithful connecting it to the social theme (this year it will be the wedding); the Commission for the Apostolate of the Aborigines of the Regional Episcopal Conference is the platform to coordinate the pastoral care of the parish and diocesan commissions by promoting collaboration. Finally, we must strengthen the formation of pastoral workers and lay faithful, as well as promoting indigenous vocations through the summer camp, youth meetings ... "The indigenous people are always happy and active people- the Bishop writes in his letter -. We thank the Lord for giving us this gift which we want to share with everyone, in order to realize pastoral care, evangelism, cultural transmission of indigenous values. I invite you to pray for this mission, giving support to these brothers and sisters," concluded Mgr. Tseng. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 30/08/2012)
