Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) - "Sixty years ago, the funds to help the growth of vocations in Taiwan came from the Pontifical Mission Societies. Today we have the opportunity to help others, and so it is our duty to make a contribution for vocations in the poor areas in the world: this is why we will adopt some seminarians in seminaries in Africa." This is what is reported in a statement from the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS) of Taiwan released for the Day of collection for vocations in the world, celebrated on 15 August. Fr. Felice Chech, director of the Pontifical Mission Societies of Taiwan notes in the text, sent to Fides Agency that "in Africa the formation of priests takes five years. And the cost for each year is 2.500 Taiwanese dollars which is enough. In Africa there are many young people who want to become priests, but often due to lack of funds all of them cannot be helped. Every Sunday we pray for vocations in the Church. But prayer is not enough, we have to also carry out concrete actions to support vocations to the priesthood in Africa so that a greater number of priests and religious can be formed. This is how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is spread in every corner of the world. We hope for generous donations on behalf of everyone to help evangelize the world." (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 22/08/2012)
