Taipei (Agenzia Fides) - "Do not be afraid to respond to the Lord because His plan for you is always the best." This is the exhortation that Fr. Pedro Chia Sze Siong sj., newly ordained Jesuit priest on August 4, addressed to young people who he followed during the years of his vocational formation. According to reports from Radio Veritas, Mgr. John Hung Shan Chuan SVD, Archbishop of the Archdiocese in Taipei presided the ordination along with fifty Jesuit priests and diocesans. His Eminence Cardinal Paul Shan, sj. was present, representing both the Society of Jesus and the universal Church. Over 800 faithful took part, mostly young professionals who studied and lived long and intense moments of Christian spirituality with the seminarians. Fr. John Lee Hua neo provincial of the Chinese province of Jesuits together with brothers and priests present laid his hands upon the new priest "with great joy and may you continue to spread the Gospel and the spirit of St. Ignatius ".
The new priest celebrated his first Eucharist on Aug. 5 in the church of the Sacred Heart. Tomorrow, August 12 he will go back to the parish of the Holy Family, where he was ordained, to celebrate Sunday Mass.
