Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - The Catholic media in Hong Kong are preparing to participate in the annual "Hong Kong Book Fair 2012" to be held from July 18 to 24, with the presence of more than 530 publishing houses from around the world and 350 cultural events. Each year, according to information collected by Fides, the local Church sees this international book fair as an opportunity for evangelization and cultural exchange: on 19 and 23 July two important meetings will be held and priests and representatives of Catholic publishing houses will dialogue with readers and visitors of the fair. According to the operators of Catholic publications, the works concerning faith or spirituality translated from foreign languages are very important for the growth of faith. By reading, readers draw on the author's personal relationship with God. But they must also learn the interpretations of the idea of faith in different cultures and traditions. Sister Helen Ng, superior of the Paulist community in Hong Kong (Daughters of St. Paul), at the presentation of Paul's publications in July, emphasized that their choice of publications and translations depends primarily on the needs shown by the readers and faithful . As usual for this event, the Association of Lay Catholics, the Kong Ko Bao, the Diocesan Audio-Visual Center, the Office for Social Communications, Catholic institutions and the realities of cultural and social communications, will be present at the fair. The sector of the Lay Catholic Association is titled "Joy.Peace" and will offer readers and visitors a chance to know Christ and the Church. (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 12/7/2012)
