VATICAN - On the Solemnity of the Sts. Peter and Paul Apostles, the Holy Father will impose the Pallium on 46 metropolitan Archbishops

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul Apostles, on June 29, the Holy Father Benedict XVI will impose the Pallium on 44 metropolitan Archbishops, and two others will receive it in their metropolitan home. The largest group consists of the 22 Bishops from America, followed by 9 from Asia, 8 from Europe, 4 from Africa, 3 from Oceania. With regard to countries of origin, for America the country with the largest number of Archbishops is Brazil (7), followed by the United States (4), Canada (4), Mexico (2), Argentina (1), Guatemala (1), Peru (1), Venezuela (1), Antilles (1). For Asia, the Philippines have 4 Archbishops, followed by India (2), from Pakistan (1), Bangladesh (1) and Korea (1). For Europe the most representative are from Poland (3) and Italy (3), followed by Germany (1) and France (1). For Africa the pallium will be received by 1 Archbishop for each of the following countries: Angola, Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia. Finally, for Oceania 2 Archbishops from Australia and 1 from Papua New Guinea.
The Archdioceses under the jurisdiction of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, whose metropolitan Archbishops will receive the pallium, are: Port of Spain (Antilles), Dhaka (Bangladesh), Karachi (Pakistan), Seoul (Korea), Guwahati (India) , Calcutta (India), Kasama (Zambia), Malanje (Angola), Lagos (Nigeria), Kumasi (Ghana), Rabaul (Papua New Guinea).
