EUROPE/FRANCE - “Round the world prayer” touches all latitudes on World Mission Day

Wednesday, 29 September 2004

Lyons (Fides Service) - Once again this year on the occasion of World Mission Day, the Pontifical Mission Societies in France have invited PMS offices all over the world to join in a “round the world prayer” to live Mission Sunday in close communion. The initiative was started in 2001. To join the universal prayer all you have to do is to pray alone or better still with other people for an hour 9am to 10am local time wherever you are on Sunday 24 October. Since the Pontifical Mission Societies are present across the world this means a circle of prayer will embrace the world for 24 hours and hearts and minds in every corner of the earth will be lifted in unison to the Lord.
Some twenty countries joined the first prayer around the world initiative in 2001 which was a fruit of the World Mission Congress organised in Rome during the Great Jubilee 2000. Prayer linked the continents of the world from Korea to Sudan from England to Uruguay, uniting dioceses, religious institutes, missionary movements. If you intend to join the initiative please inform Sr. Agnes Journoud, SMMH, OPM France - 12 rue Sala 69287 Lyon Cedex 02. E mail: smmh@opm-cm.org. Fax: (0033) 472.56.99.69.) (S.L.)
