Tuesday, 12 June 2012

Hong Kong (Agenzia Fides) - The thirty years of service to disabled people on behalf of the community, "Faith and Light" in Hong Kong have always been inspired by one purpose: to give disabled people their position and rights in society and the Church. According to reports from the Kong Ko Bao (Chinese version of the diocesan bulletin), during the celebration for the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the community in Hong Kong, held on June 3 in the parish of Santa Maria Maddalena, Cardinal John Tong Hon, Bishop of the diocese of Hong Kong, appreciated and praised the outstanding contribution offered by the community to the disabled in all these years. Citing the Chinese tradition, he encouraged the community because "thirty years is a sign of maturity both for the growth of a person and for a community. Knowledge of theory of faith is not enough, the important thing is to put it into practice. "Furthermore, "the simplicity and integrity of the disabled help the faithful to reflect on their relationship with the triune God and with one’s neighbor." Fr. Giosué Bonzi, PIME missionary, founder of the Faith and Light Community of Hong Kong, together with 120 disabled people, their parents and friends attended the Mass, thanking the Lord and all the benefactors who have helped the community in these years .
