AMERICA/VENEZUELA - "Dialogue between Church and state must continue and be strengthened," said the Apostolic Nuncio

Caracas (Agenzia Fides) - The Vice President of Venezuela, Elias Jaua, and the Foreign Minister, Nicolas Maduro, met on Wednesday, June 6 with the Apostolic Nuncio in Venezuela, Archbishop Pietro Parolin, in order to strengthen relations between the national government of Venezuela and the Holy See. Jaua said that "the meeting was requested by the President as part of the review of relations with different countries with which Venezuela has relations, so we examined the relations between the Vatican and the Venezuelan state ... a conversation on the situation of the country and on the electoral process in which we live, which corresponds to the development of normal relations between the two institutions." On his behalf, Archbishop Parolin showed appreciation for the meeting: "I think it is part of the dialogue to be established between the Vatican and Venezuela, we are here at a diplomatic level, we are representatives of the Holy Father, but this corresponds to dialogue with the Catholic Church, so I am really grateful and may this dialogue continue and be strengthened ".
