AFRICA/CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC- Appointment of the Coadjutor Bishop of Alindao

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Holy Father Benedict XVI on May 14, 2012 appointed Rev. Cyr-Nestor Yapaupa, of the clergy of Alindao, Vicar General of the same Diocese as Coadjutor Bishop of Alindao (Central Africa).
Rev. Cyr- Nestor Yapaupa, was born on February 26, 1970, in Bangassou. He studied Philosophy and Theologyin his country, at the Major Seminary Saint Marc in Bangui. He was ordained a priest on March 18, 2001. Incardinated first in the Diocese of Bangassou, he then went to the Diocese of Alindao. After his ordination he has held the following positions: 2001-2002: He accompanied vocational groups; 2001-2004: Parish Vicar; since 2003: Head of the Diocesan Liturgy Commission; since 2004: Diocesan Secretary of Catholic Teaching; since 2005: Pastor of the Cathedral, diocesan Chaplain of the Association of St. Rita, diocesan Chaplain of the choir groups; since 2006: Vicar General.
The Diocese of Alindao, erected in 2004, has an area of 18,475 square kilometers and a population of 171,600 inhabitants, of whom 63,000 are Catholics. There are 5 parishes, 13 priests (11 diocesan and 2 religious), 2 religious brothers, 11 nuns and 8 seminarians. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 15/5/2012)
