AFRICA/COTE D'IVOIRE - Appointment of the Rector of the Theological Seminary in Abidjan

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on September 20, 2011 appointed rev. Basile Djro Djro, of the clergy of Abidjan as Rector of the inter-diocesan Theological Seminary of the Archdiocese of Abidjan (Ivory Coast).
The new Rector was born on April 3, 1963 in Memni. He was ordained a priest on July 9, 1989 in Abidjan. After primary school, he attended the minor Seminary Saint Augustin Bingerville, then the Intermediate Seminary Saint Joseph Mukasa in Yopougon, and the Major Seminary "St. Coeur de Marie " in Anyama. After his priestly ordination he was Assistant pastor and Pastor in several parishes, he then continued his studies at the Université Catholique de l'Afrique de l'Ouest (UCAO) in Abidjan, where he obtained a degree in biblical theology (1994 - 96), and a doctorate in spiritual theology at the Pontifical Institute of Spirituality in Rome for (1996-98). In 1998-99 he was professor at the Major Seminary "St. Coeur de Marie "in Anyama, then pastor in two parishes (1999-2006) and since 2006 Superior at the Minor Seminary Saint Augustin in Bingerville.
