Rome (Fides Service) - Health-care centres in the Italian region of Venice have always been active in the field of international co-operation and at present they are involved in about twenty programmes including considerable financial commitment.
One of the programmes consists in the structural and logistic renovation of the hospital in Iringa one of the main medical centres in Tanzania where because of lack of basic health care, almost two out of every new born babies die and life expectancy is between 36 and 39 years.
Aware that most things which are discarded or replaced with more modern equipment in rich countries can help save lives in countries such as Tanzania, the Venetian region has authorised local hospitals to send disused sanitary equipment to countries in need.
