AMERICA/REP. DOMINICAN - "A voice for the civilization of love": a radio made by street children

Wednesday, 15 February 2012

Santo Domingo (Agenzia Fides) - Following the motto "A voice for the civilization of love", a group of street children, led by the Salesian Father Luis Rosario, broadcast 24 hours a day on Radio Juventus Don Bosco. Founded in 2004, the issuer is a tool to educate and carry out a pastoral work on the example of Don Bosco. The children in question are part of the project developed by the Youth Pastoral "Yo También" (ME,TOO), which welcomes young people from the road in order to re-educate and reintegrate them into their families and society. They direct the radio. Some are well prepared and lead programs as much as three hours every Sunday, is what is said in a statement by Ans. Many have developed skills such as sound engineers, editors, assemblers, or repairers of equipment and computers. It is a purely voluntary initiative, even for those who lead and manage the radio station. The only condition is that the educational line and pastoral station is always respected. The programming of Radio Juventus is mainly addressed to young people, adolescents and families. The main objective is to help build a better world based on love. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 15/2/2012)
