Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - The Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on September 20, 2011 appointed Father Godefroid Manunga, of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD) as National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Congo for the years 2011 to 2016.
The new National Director was born in Kasongo-Lunda on 26 June 1963. After his primary and secondary education, he studied philosophy at the St. Augustine Institute (Asuma-Kinshasa) and theology at the Facultes Catholiques de Kinshasa. He was ordained a priest in Kinshasa on 26 July 1992. He obtained a licentiate in theology (2000) and a doctorate in Missiology (2003) in Rome. He was a missionary in Zambia (1992), Zimbabwe (1993-1996), Ghana (1996-1997). He then taught at secondary schools in Bandundu ville (RD Congo). (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 10/02/2012)
