AFRICA/RWANDA - Appointment of the Rector of the philosophical Major Seminary "St. Thomas" in the diocese of Kabgayi

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On September 2, 2011, Archbishop Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Rector of the inter-diocesan philosophical Major Seminary "St. Thomas" in the diocese of Kabgayi (Rwanda), rev. Vedaste Kayisabe, of the clergy of the diocese of Kibungo (Rwanda).
The new Rector was born on 11 March 1970 in Mukarange, diocese of Kibungo. After his primary studies in his hometown, he attended the Minor Seminary "St. Kizito" in Zaza. Then he went to the preparatory Seminary in Rutongo (1991-92), he studied philosophy at the Major Seminary of Kabgayi (1992-94) and theology at the Major Seminary in Nyakibanda (1994-98). He was ordained a priest in Kibungo on July 26, 1998. Subsequently, he has held the following positions: Assistant priest in Rukira (1998-99); Prefect of discipline and then Rector of the Minor Seminary of Zaza (1999-2002). From 2002 to 2004 he studied philosophy at the Pontifical Urban University to obtain the license. He then went back home and was Professor of philosophy at the philosophical Major Seminary in Kabgayi. After three years he was back in Rome for a doctorate in philosophy at the Pontifical Urban University. Since 2010, he has been Professor of philosophy and Prefect of studies at the philosofical major Seminary in Kabgayi. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 07/10/2011)
