AFRICA/CAMEROON - Appointment of the Rector of the Theological Major Seminary "St. Thomas Aquinas" in the Archdiocese of Bamenda

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) - On August 4, 2011 Archbishop Fernando Filoni, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Rector of the Theological inter-diocesan Major Seminary "St. Thomas Aquinas" in the Archdiocese of Bamenda (Cameroon), Rev. Ignatius Salah Waindim, of the clergy of the Archdiocese of Bamenda.
The new Rector was born on July 20, 1961 in Nkambe. After his primary studies at the Catholic school at St. Anthony in Njinikom (1967-74), he attended the minor Seminary, "Bishop Rogan College" in Soppa-Buea (1974-81) and then the major Seminary "St. Thomas Aquinas' in Bambui (1981-88). He was ordained a priest on April 6, 1988. From 1990 to 1994 he studied at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome. He has served in the following pastoral tasks: Pastor (1988-90); Vicar General and teacher in the Seminary (2000-06) and Member of the Archdiocesan Board of counseling (2006-11); Chancellor and Secretary of the archbishop, a teacher in the Seminary (since 2006); and since 1994 a teacher at the major Seminary "St. Thomas Aquinas "; from 1999 to 2009 he was also Secretary General of BAPEC, Bamenda Provincial Episcopal Conference.
