AFRICA/EGYPT - Rev. Antonios Fayez appointed National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples has, 14 July 2004, appointed National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Egypt for a five year term (2004-2009), Rev. Antonios Fayez, of the Copt clergy of Alexandria. Rev. Fayez was born on 11 October 1954 in Cairo. After obtaining a degree in Agricultural Science and a completing a course in theology at the Pontifical Urban University, he was ordained a priest on 22 August 1989 in Cairo. He then obtained a Licentiate in spiritual theology at the Teresianum College in Rome (1991). He has since been: 1991 - 1994, parish priest at the parish adjacent to Maadi Major Seminary, Professor of spiritual theology at the seminary and at the ISST in Cairo, Assistant to the Seminary’s spiritual director. Between1995 and 2000, spiritual director and Professor spiritual theology at the Seminary and the ISST. Between 2000 and 2004, parish priest of the Cathedral of St Anthony the Great, Professor spiritual theology at the Seminary and ISST. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 1/9/2004; Righe 12; Parole 160)
