Lima (Fides Service) - In view of the imminent opening of Peru’s 3rd National Youth Mission Congress 4 to 8 August in Arequipa, with the theme “Young man your life is mission”, delegations all over the country engage in final preparations. In Lima a group of 200 young people from the archdiocese of Lima and the diocese of Callao are preparing to take part in the event with various activities including a Pilgrimage with the Mission Cross. The Cross is being carried to each of the parishes in Lima and Callao. At every stop hundreds of young people gather for prayer and meditation. The delegation of the capital will hand over the Cross to the Congress participants in Arequipa.
The young people are also attending meetings of study and reflection under the expert guidance of experts from the world of mission, to prepare the contribution of the Lima-Callao delegation to the National Mission Congress. Themes for reflection include: Whi is Jesus for us? (Fr. Hector Casas); Significance and importance of National Youth Mission Congresses (Celina Torres); What Jesus says in the Eucharist (Fr. Gianfranco Iacopi, national director PMS in Peru); Missionary activity and contribution of young people today (Fr. Barner); The Challenge of the Missionary Gospel of the Cross (Fr. Jorge Guerra, MCCJ). To crown preparatory activities in view of the 3rd national youth mission congress the participants will take part in a special Mas with the sending of missionaries. (R.Z.)
