AFRICA/BURKINA FASO-Appointment of the Rector of the Major Seminary "St. John the Baptist" in Ouagadougou

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) -On 15 April 2011, Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, appointed Rector of the Major Seminary interdiocesan "St. John the Baptist" in the Archdiocese of Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso) , rev. Desire Dabire, the diocesan clergy of Diebougou.
The new Rector was born on July 3, 1962 in Dano (Joba). After his primary and secondary studies, he attended the Major Seminary St. Jean Koumi (1983-1990). He was ordained a priest on December 29, 1990 in Diebougou. After an experience as a Professor at the Seminary St. Tarsicius in Diebougou (1990-1993), he continued his studies at the ICAO in Abidjan to get a degree in dogmatic Theology (1993-1995). Assistant priest in the diocese of Diebougou (1995-1996), Professor at the inter-diocesan Major Seminary "St. John the Baptist" in Ouagadougou (1996-2000), from 2000 to 2004 he studied in Rome at the Pontifical Urban University, for his doctorate. Since September 2005 he was Professor at the Major Seminary of Koumi. (SL) (Agenzia Fides 17/06/2011)
