Tripoli (Agenzia Fides) - "Yesterday was a terrible day because of the bombing. Today, thank God, the situation is much calmer", says His Exc Mgr Giovanni Innocenzo Martinelli, Apostolic Vicar of Tripoli. "The political situation is not clear. We are waiting for developments and progress in dialogue and peace. I still believe in dialogue. The only thing that scares me is the struggle between factions within the Libyan people, if they start to fight against each other it will be terrible".
Yesterday Gaddafi again urged the population to resistance. "I remember that an important western politician, a month ago, said that Gaddafi's fall is a matter of hours. I do not know how long these hours are", said Mgr.Martinelli, who insists that " whoever thinks that things can be solved with bombs is wrong ". "Mgr. Martinelli also puts in perspective the news on the damage suffered by the Italian cemetery in Tripoli: "I visited the cemetery. The graves were not desecrated. The ossuary is in order. They only wrote on the walls of the caretaker`s house. I pray for our protection on behalf of all those dead people who gave their blood for Libya", concludes Mgr. Martinelli. (L.M.)
