VATICAN - Papal Message to the Rogationist community: “Missionary impulse is intrinsic to the identity of the apostles of ‘Rogate!’. Contemplation of the ‘harvest is plenty’ and the ‘workers who are few, cannot fail to open the heart to universal longing for the evangelisation of peoples”.

Vatican City (Fides Service) - “May the work of evangelisation, from first announcement to catechesis, combined with generous service of the weakest, especially those children and young people who have no family or lack support for education, be your daily concern, the concrete, active and faithful manner in which you prepare the soil for the flourishing of seeds of vocations which the Lord generously gives for the harvest in response to confident and faithful prayer.” This is part of a Message which Pope John Paul II addressed to Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus on the occasion of their 10th general chapter.
The Pope said that the Rogationists’ mission “is more than ever necessary at the start of the third millennium”... “The harvest to which we are sent is greater than ever today. The "global village", which the planet has become, encircled by networks of communications and political, economic and social interest not rarely in conflict among themselves, reveals an urgent need of workers of reconciliation, witness of the Truth which saves, builders of authentic and lasting peace founded on justice and forgiveness. If we look into the abysses of hearts, the longings and expectations of life which come from Above appear all the more ample and profound.”
To respond to the vast task before us Jesus says that first of all we must pray: “It is through prayer that we obtain workers to dig the earth, prepare the furrow, throw the seed and watch over its growth and gather the fruit from the mature ears of wheat. Through prayer we rediscover the primacy of the contemplative dimension of life and we receive the power of the faith which conquers the world. Today, after the fall of totalitarian ideologies of the modern era, faith appears ever more clearly as an anchor of salvation more than ever necessary and urgent.”
Lastly the Pope encourage the Rogationists with these words: “The Church and the world expect you to show renewed fidelity to the charisma as apostles of "Rogate" which distinguishes you. Live then with all that passion that the Spirit is able to kindle within your heart, the joy of your calling and never leave the People of God or humanity without that which is asked of us by the Redeemer himself: "Rogate!".” (S.L.)
