AMERICA/PERU - “Jesus you are my strength and my salvation. I am your Missionary!” This is the slogan of the National Day for the Union of Sick Missionaries celebrated yesterday by more than 600 sick and elderly people

Lima (Fides Service) - On Sunday 11 July Peru celebrated a National Day of the Union of Sick Missionaries with the slogan “Jesus you are my strength and my salvation. I am your Missionary!” The Day celebrated by more than 600 sick and elderly people who offer their sufferings for the missions, was organised by the Pontifical Mission Societies Peru and it took place at the La Salle Education Centre. The programme included a solemn Mass followed by moments of sharing and entertainment. Next Sunday July 18 members of Holy Childhood in Peru will visit sick children at St John of God clinic in Lima to take a message of love and joy. The Union of Sick Missionaries is run by the Pontifical Mission Societies which has the task of spreading the apostolate of suffering helping the sick and the elderly to realise that through offering their suffering to God they offer a precious contribution to the evangelisation of the world.
