ASIA/KOREA - Appointment of Rector of inter-diocesan Major Seminary in Suwon

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Card. Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, on 6 August 2010 appointed as Rector of the inter-diocesan Major Seminary in Suwon (Korea), Father Yong-Hwa Lee, of the clergy in Suwon.
The new Rector was born on 7 June 1962 in Anyang shi, Kyeongki-do (South Korea), and was ordained a priest on 11 December 1989 in the Cathedral in Suwon. After studying theology at the Catholic University of Seul (1981-85), he completed his Licentiate in Biblical Theology at the University of Vienna (1985-89), and his Licentiate in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome (1994-98). He studied Biblical Theology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome (1998-99) and completed his Doctorate at the Catholic University of Suwon (2000-04). Among the roles he has held: he was assistant parish priest and parish priest, and member of the diocesan Commission for the Missions. Currently he is Professor at the Catholic University of Suwon, dean for the Licentiate program, and coordinator of academic affairs. He has published various articles with biblical themes.
