Tai Pei (Agenzia Fides) – “Walking together to man, living for the Lord – To be fulfilled and to fulfil others in holiness, to the full”, is the title of the 2011 Pastoral Letter of the Regional Episcopal Conference of Taiwan. In the document, which may be divided into four main points, one reads: to be fulfilled consists in “loving the Eucharist, constantly participating in the best way at the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, not omitting prayer and daily Bible reading, promoting the Liturgy of the Hours ti respond to the call of the Lord”. To help others reach fulfilment signifies “to try in all ways to witness Jesus, profiting from the mass media to evangelise.”
The concrete actions required for holiness are, “to respect life, to promote the protection of unborn life, the abolition of the death penalty, to promote the spirit of forgiveness, to stabilise relations of peace and justice among peoples through prayer, attention to the neighbourhood, the protection of the environment and the healing of the weak”. Finally it was emphasised that “to be fulfilled and achieve the fulfilment of holiness in others” is a complicated journey, which requires ongoing formation that assists in the “sanctification and the love of the family, in family relations, in the promotion of prayer for the family, in children's and youth formation and of intellectuals through the catechism.” (NZ) (Agenzia Fides 10/01/2011)
