UNITED NATIONS/UNAIDS - UNAIDS issues two yearly report on AIDS in 2004

Rome (Fides Service) - In view of the 15th World Conference on AIDS in Bangkok from 11 to 16 July, UNAIDS, the United Nations’ department for fighting AIDS, published a two yearly report on AIDS in 2004. The report gives an overall picture of the global situation of AIDS as well as the most recent epidemiological data at world, regional and national levels.
The theme of the meeting this year is “Access for all”, with regard to access to resources to fight the disease.
UNAIDS with eight other UN offices is committed to a programme to fight AIDS through prevention, treatment and care for the patients, reducing vulnerability of individuals and communities and alleviating impact. (AP) (6/7/2004 Agenzia Fides; Righe:15; Parole:130)
