AMERICA/VENEZUELA – REV. JOSE RAFAEL ROMERO LINARES, NATIONAL DIRECTOR OF PONTIFICAL MISSION SOCIETIES

Vatican City (Fides Service) – Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, has appointed (30 May 2003), National Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Venezuela, Rev. Jose Rafael Romero Linares, of Maracaibo archdiocese for a five year term 2003-2008. The new National Director was born on 10 May 1963 at La Cañada (Maracaibo, Venezuela) he was ordained a priest on 27 October 1990. He has a Licentiate in Missiology at the Pontifical Urban University and is working on a doctorate at the same University. He has been parish priest in several places, professor at Santo Tomas de Aquino seminary of the archdiocese, promoter of various professional training schools for young people of the indigenous Wayu ethnic group.
