ASIA/INDIA - The Voice of Christianity, presented by Reverend Dominic Emmanuel on Jain Tv Private channel proclaims the Gospel and helps remove prejudice and promote interreligious dialogue

New Delhi (Fides Service) - To evangelise the media culture is the aim of The Voice of Christianity programme broadcast by a private TV channel Jain TV. The programme produced by the Social Communications Office of the archdiocese of New Delhi has been running for two years, with over one hundred instalments and with great success. The local Church is pleased at the result and hopes to continue with a service of information, formation and evangelisation through television.
Father Dominic Emmanuel, head of the Social Communications Office who leads The Voice of Christianity programme told Fides something about it. “We are happy to have this opportunity to inform people about the real contents of our Christian faith. We have had important guests on the programme, cardinals, many bishops, political leaders, members of parliament, activists , priests, men and women religious, missionaries, teachers. Now I hope to give the programme an ecumenical dimension and make it bilingual Hindi and English. I take this opportunity to thank all those who worked to make the programme a success”.
“The programme helps inform people about the faith and remove many prejudices against India’s Christian communities”, said Archbishop Vincent Concessao of New Delhi.
“The Voice of Christianity” weekly programme illustrates contents of Christian doctrine and activity. It includes filmed reports, features, guests in the studio all co-ordinated by Father Dominic Emmanuel who has years of experience in the media.
The programme is shown at 6pm on Sundays and repeated on Fridays and Saturdays. Jain Tv private channel broadcasts from New Delhi to central and southern India also via satellite.
