ASIA/TAIWAN - National Council of the Apostolate of the Laity stresses the importance of mission cooperation

Taipei (Fides Service) - Taiwan’s National Council of the Apostolate of the Laity recently held a fruitful 10th assembly in Taipei. The daylong assembly was presided by Archbishop Joseph Cheng, Archbishop of Taipei who is president of the Commission for the Laity of the Chinese Regional Bishops’ Conference and by the spiritual assistant Bishop James Liu. After listening to a report on the activity of the past twelve months the assembly discussed how to increase the laity’s participation in the work of mission cooperation. They also discussed preparations for the Youth Pilgrimage and the National Eucharistic Congress. The participants agreed on the need to carry forward the campaign “Building a Parish of Faith, Hope and Charity” promoted by the Bishops’ Conference and undertaken in every diocese. They also agreed to hold the next meeting in the diocese of HuaLien.
