ASIA/HOLY LAND - “We Want Peace in the Holy Land”: Second Youth Pilgrimage in the footsteps of Jesus

Rome (Agenzia Fides) – On January 31, more than 1,000 cities around the world joined in prayer for "The International Day of Intercession for Peace in the Holy Land,” accompanied by the encouragement of the Holy Father Benedict XVI. With the second pilgrimage "We Want Peace in the Holy Land" continues the journey of "Youth for Peace," which this year will follow in Jesus's footsteps in the Holy Land June 18 to 22, to confirm their desire to change the world and break down all barriers of wars, through prayer, interreligious dialogue, and placing Jesus Himself, King of Peace, at the center of their action. The pilgrimage includes moments of prayer and visiting the cities of central importance in the Holy Land, from Bethlehem to Jerusalem, passing through Nazareth. On the evening of Saturday, June 19, there will be the 2nd International Eucharistic Assembly in Bethlehem, where Jesus was born, with a Eucharistic Vigil lasting the whole night. The events scheduled also include a meeting with the Patriarch of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Fouad Twal. Youth organizations that are promoting the pilgrimage are: the National Association Papaboys and the Apostolate of Youth for Life and Eucharistic Adoration.
