Rome (Fides Service) - There is growing debate about “garbage TV” and “empty” television programmes especially in the Summer season which is just starting. In view of this we present a ‘different’ sort of programme which will be broadcast on RAI UNO TV on June 23. Precisely because it is programme which prompts reflection, analysis, deep thinking, it may be easily ignored even by those who claim they want “television with values”.
The theme is very relevant: today, what remains of the Ten Commandments and how are they lived in daily life, in human behaviour, in government legislation? How many today are convinced that respect for the Law which God gave to Moses on Mount Sinai is the basis for peace, prosperity and harmony among individuals and peoples?
‘The Ten Commandments, the Courage of Love’ will try in seven episodes to provide an answer. The seven episodes were filmed across the continents, an undertaking of research lasting over two years amidst all the contradictions of unfamiliar planetary daily life, with all its misery and all its glory, things of little importance but which summed together become hope for the Courage to Love!”
Our hope is that, faced with a world lacerated by hatred and violence, a growing number of people will reject stereotypes and pre-packed interpretations of events and discover once again the ‘Courage to Love’ one another as brothers and sisters.
THE TEN COMMANDAMENTS - THE COURAGE TO LOVE!, “Ten simple words inscribed in the human heart”, seven 50 minute programmes on RAI UNO every Wednesday evening and Rai International starting on June 23.
Written and directed by Luca De Mata (director of Fides News Service and, with his television programme “Cristo nel freddo dell’Est” - Christ in the cold of the East, winner of the Italian Presidential Cup in the ambit of Premio Italia 2003); supervision Archbishop Mauro Piacenza (President of the Pontifical Council for the Cultural Heritage of the Church) Father Massimo Cenci PIME, (Under Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples); and Rev. Massimo Camisasca (author of numerous works the most recent being, “Il segreto condiviso” - the shared secret) also the Founder of the Fraternity of the Missionaries of Saint Charles Borromeo); editorial supervision Teresa De Santis (vice-director RAI Uno); co-ordination Rev Luciano Alimandi (Congregation for the Clergy); sound track composed and conducted by Maestro Stelvio Cipriani.
