AFRICA/BURUNDI - Rector of “San Pierre Claver” Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Burasira, Archdiocese of Bujumbura appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on November 14, 2009, has appointed Fr. Daniel Nizigiyimana of the Archdiocesan clergy of Gitega, Rector of “San Pierre Claver” Interdiocesan Major Seminary in Burasira in the Archdiocese of Bujumbura (Burundi).
The new Rector was born January 17, 1965 at Rugari and was ordained a priest in 1998. After his primary and secondary schooling, he attended the Minor Seminary in Murek (Ngozi) (1986-1990), then studied philosophy at the Major Seminary of “Saint Cure d'Ars” in Bujumbura (1990-1993), and theology at the Major Seminary “Jean Paul II” in Gitega (1994-1998). He received his doctorate in philosophy at the Pontifical Urban University (2000-2004), and then a certificate for Seminary Professors (2007) in Florence. After his ordination, he was Vicar in the parish of Karusi (1998/2000), then, from 2004 to 2008, Professor at the Major Seminary of Burasira, Visiting Professor at the University of Ngozi, and at the Major Seminary of Burasira.
