AFRICA/LIBERIA - Rector of Interdiocesan Seminary of the Diocese of Gbarnga appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on 11 September 2009, appointed Rector of the Interdiocesan Seminary of the Diocese of Gbarnga (Liberia), Fr. Francis Alex Kofi Lyall of diocesan clergy of Monrovia.
The new Rector was born October 23, 1953 in Cape Coast (Ghana). He was ordained a priest on May 22, 1988 in Sacred Heart Cathedral in Monrovia. He attended St. Teresa Minor Seminary in Amisano (Ghana) and St. Peter Major Seminary at Cape Coast (Ghana), then continued his education at the University of Legon in Accra, Ghana (1984), the Pastoral Center of the Diocese of Kenema, Sierra Leone (1987) and at Fordham University in New York, United States of America (1998). He received his Diploma in Theology, a Certificate in Social Development, and a Masters in Religion and Religious Education. Among the positions he has held are: assistant pastor and pastor in several parishes, Director of Vocations of the Archdiocese of Monrovia, Diocesan Director of the Pontifical Mission Societies, Rector of St. Charles Lwanga Seminary. Since 2007, he has carried out the duties of Rector at St. Paul's College Seminary in Gbarnga. (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 26/11/2009)
