AFRICA/CAMEROON - Rector of Interdiocesan Propedeutic Seminary “Saint Jean Baptiste” of Archdiocese of Bertoua appointed

Vatican City (Agenzia Fides) – Cardinal Ivan Dias, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, on 15 July 2009, appointed Rector of the inter-diocesan seminary propedutico "Saint Jean Baptiste" in the Archdiocese of Bertoua (Cameroon), Fr. D. Elie Kegne of diocesan clergy of Batouri.
The new Rector was born November 29, 1968 in Douala. He was ordained priest on 7 July 2001 for the Diocese of Batouri. He attended the Major Seminary "Saint Augustin" of Maroua, then continued his education in Rome at the Pontifical Biblical Institute (2004-2006) and the Pontifical Urban University (2006-2008). He received his baccalaureate in Theology and a licentiate in Biblical Theology. From 2001 to 2004 he was director of the Cathedral of Batouri. After returning from Rome, during the year 2008-2009 he carried out the duties of seminary rector of the inter-propedutico "Saint Jean Baptiste" in Bertoua, as representative of the Archbishop, and taught Sacred Scripture at the Major Seminary "Notre Dame de l ' Esperance "in Bertoua.
