ASIA/INDIA - “Parents co-authors of creation”: Seminar organised by the Commission for the Family of the Indian Bishops’ Conference

New Delhi (Agenzia Fides) - God calls parents to be those who give life, co-authors of creation: to spread awareness and responsiblity among Christian parents was the aim of a recent seminar organised by the Commission for the Family of the Indian Bishops’ Conference in Bangalore, attended by many married couples and Family Pastoral workers from 19 dioceses in southern India. The main conference was give by the head of the Commission Bishop Angelo Gracias, Auxiliary Bishop of Bombay, who encouarged the participants to take the contents of the seminar back to their own diocese.
The Bishop urged the faithful to create an atmosphere of love, serenity, understanding and forgiveness in the family, basing the family on authentic values: only in this way can the family become a place of openness to life and of human and spiritual growth for parents and children.
The Catholic Church in India, as in mnay other parts of Asia, is preparing initiatives of formation, awareness building and prayer organised at the diocesan and national level in view of the 8th Plenary Assembly of the Federation of Asian Bishops’ Conferences FABC, 17 to 22 August in Taejeon, South Korea on the theme “The Asian Family Towards a Culture of Life”.
